And in today’s update..

Ganguly is screwing up major time.. and I think the consensus is that he’s probably gonna be fired soon. Dravid’s taking over, not a bad thing I guess, sad that we have to lose faith in captains when they lose form. I remember a man called Steve Waugh, in similar circumstances; and he’s now recognized as a doyen of the game. Interestingly, Sehwag is getting a look-see.. I wonder where this is going.

I wonder if the Australians are heading towards that topple I’ve been saying will happen in 2007, Gilchrist might retire soon. More and more, that decimating Dad’s Army is gonna disappear; and I’m really not all that sure about their bench strength. Greatness can rarely be replaced with successors.
At one stage, I thought this meant India shows its superiority, from they way they’re playing - that doesn’t look happening. Of course, Dravid might mean a whole new game.

Oh, and you-know-who is ‘preggers’. Amazing how many of us are caught up on that.

Google GPS is coming around, now they’ve gone mobile. I read a comparision recently that re-iterated what I’ve been saying about Google & Yahoo! as well.

Possibly, one of the most under-rated services - the Indian Post - amazing how it’s evolved beyond the e-mail.

Oh, I read about the dude who tried to rob a arms store brandishing a pop-gun with customers inside, now for the dude who tried shoot a cop with the wrong end of the gun.

Similar/Different ?

Interesting.. two matches between teams that could not be more different, and yet so similar. At the end of this post, I’ve realised that that title is particularly apt for this post.
Wow. An apt title. Rare.

How to turn you off a game..

India vs. Pakistan. Test 3. India ahead 1-0 in the series. Pakistan wanting to show they are not crap. India wanting to remain champions. You’d think of a glorious 2nd day’s play.

Nope. Zilch.
Crappy cricket from both sides. Bloody horrible.
Pakistan manage to score 200 runs in a whole days’ play, lose all their wickets, after having completely screwed India on day One. Their double-centurion scores more than 50% of his runs in singles.
India keep getting all the chances that Pakistan can give them; and let off the pressure as fast as they can. The best bowler they’ve had in the last 10 matches, manages to get figures that a rookie would kick himself for.

Fishy ? or should I say ‘Fix’y ?

Dravid

Filed under: Technically Loud, Technically Cricket - S @ 5:27 pm

The interesting thing is that I am guilty of this too.

What ?
*Begin at the beginning*

Gases and dust swirled around each other…

yeah, I know. Horrible joke.

Back to my point.
A man called Rahul Dravid.dravid
A great player. Possibly one of the greatest known to India.
Now.

He debuted ages ago.. I am randomly guessing atleast 10 years.

And yet, now, when he is at the pinnacle of an amazing career, people are wondering what they would have done without him in the first place.

He was always India’s “Lord of the Technique”. Which made him boring. Unlike others, he just was not the type to go out there and show the crowd real dominance.
But the people who know, the opposing players, have always prayed that he lose his touch when he strides out there.
Why ?
A random example - Aus vs Ind - 2001. Venue: Wankhede Stadium.
Dravid scores 40. of 200 deliveries.

I was one of those who told anyone who would listen that this was crap.
Why ?
Not coz he could done anything different at the time. He was never a Tendulkar, Afridi, or a Hayden. Or even a Jayasuriya.
He was the man who could have done so much better. Plus he got out crappily after such concentration.
Now it occurs to me that that probably happened coz the rest of the team refused to play. And roundly gave the game quite nicely to Australia.

As he’s shown since then, the Indian team really builds itself from Dravid’s play. Even Tendulkar can never be expected to tamely play 200 deliveries, when the team is collapsing.

And, I don’t know anyone who would volunteer to be ‘keeper. And then bat even better.

Now this is a legend who will never be sung about. Until after he finally leaves.
And even then, only after a couple of series losses, due to crappy batting.
