One of those posts after surfing blogs..

I know that grousing about what we read on BE/BC/BZ is common.. but after a mere 40 minutes, I couldn’t stop myself. I want people to take offense by choice, so read on now that I’ve warned you..

Indeed, I know that I shouldn’t be passing judgements on fellow bloggers, but when one sees utterly crappily designed sites; that actually want to make you throw up… yeagh!

Better out than in, as they say…

Apparently people(and here I am talking about the grand majority who want traffic on their site.. why else appear on blog traffic sites ?) do not realise that advertising is meant to be a sort of hopeful advantage of blogging - not the focus of the bloody page.
The content is not meant to be the side-bar, its the fucking reason that I come to your site. Flashy icons, blinking text, crappy tag-boards(which intrude onto the text, and screw with the loading times), and links that spill out to completely play havoc with the main body are not cool, they are bloody irritating; and eventually I’ll just hunt you down and kill you. Literally.

More often than not, it’s simply the design that goes all over the place.. and I end up clicking away from the page. The content may be amazing, but if you don’t show it to me properly; I’m outta here ! Rare cases, when I make the effort, I find some sense under the blather; but you can generally say that when the site looks crappy.. it probably is.

Make an effort in what you present, simplicity is quite cool.. and Keep It Simple Stupid is a mantra on web-pages.

That said, there were a few that I came across.. that give me hope for the future, and the glimmer that the blogosphere will not degenerate to the encephalous who never seemed to have heard of style, substance, or even ever had an idea of thinking about what they do..

  1. I hear you on the screwed up blogs. I gave up on the blogexplosion, et al thing. It is too much work wading through all of that crap. There is nothing I hate more than a blog that loads poorly, slowly or whatever. The worst are ones that don’t work in every browser. How much trouble is it to preview your shit? I have to admit though, I don’t really mind if they don’t work in IE. I don’t use that. I guess basically, everyone should just cater to what I want. Yeah. That’s it.

  3. blogs with the aforementioned atrocities actually hurt me, in a “i want to beat the ‘designer’ with a plank” type way.

  6. If you need any help tracking down the schmucks let me know.

I am tired of surfing blogs looking for something with real content only to find out there seems to be a competition to see who can put the most crap on their blog. From those freaking tag boards to the clocks telling me what time it is, they are all annoying and get the click from me.
