How to turn you off a game..

India vs. Pakistan. Test 3. India ahead 1-0 in the series. Pakistan wanting to show they are not crap. India wanting to remain champions. You’d think of a glorious 2nd day’s play.

Nope. Zilch.
Crappy cricket from both sides. Bloody horrible.
Pakistan manage to score 200 runs in a whole days’ play, lose all their wickets, after having completely screwed India on day One. Their double-centurion scores more than 50% of his runs in singles.
India keep getting all the chances that Pakistan can give them; and let off the pressure as fast as they can. The best bowler they’ve had in the last 10 matches, manages to get figures that a rookie would kick himself for.

Fishy ? or should I say ‘Fix’y ?

Y!

Yahoo! has long been, at least to me, one of the most underestimated service providers thats been around. I’ve used it for almost 8 years, just 2 years after its inception.. and one point that anyone will give it is that, it’s probably the reliable workhorse, with the best possible integration of services.

They may not be the first off the block when it comes to the ultimate features, like Gmail, or Blogger or even Amazon; though at one stage they used to be that entity as well.. but they are the site that allows beautiful integration with one id. Photos, mail, groups, briefcase, search, home page, messenger.. they’ve made it all part of just one id; and if you explore what they have on offer, its actually the real idea behind the connected world. Rather than managing a million accounts, think of one account, that can manage everything; and more.

I know, that in a competitive world, being the “good” service is just not good enough, but being the service that is just not realised… that’s another matter.

This sounds like a plug for Yahoo, I know, but when I heard of the acquiring of Flickr, the soon-to-be-launched 360, and this.. I realised Y! had done it again.

They’re still around, and its not going to be easy to knock them out.

Also: The origin of Easter Eggs. For anyone who was curious about why the oval reproductive body of a fowl got associated with spring festivals, or indeed, reincarnations.

I don’t know how many of you caught the Netrospective that Yahoo! had, to celebrate 10 years.

It was based on the concept site 10x10, which gives a 10x10 grid of what is happening in the world every hour. The actual method involves scanning RSS, but thats something that is easier read.

There are many more interesting concepts that you can find at the parent site, number27.. I’m trying to find out why he’s called it that, let me know if you do. Going back to number27, there are many snapshots you can see of humanity; especially what and how we think. You just have to see them to believe them.
